Production Monitor - JVC, Good, Bad?

I want to get a 16:9/4:3 switchable production monitor to use with the anamorphic adaptor. I am looking at the JVC TM-A101GU 10". Has anyone out there used this particular monitor?

I am also considering the much larger 17" - but that sucker weights 44lbs. Big picture, but damn! I think the 10" will be better for the field and even for editing at the office.

The idea is to either get the eyepiece adapter for the camera or the monitor so I can easily frame my wide screen compositions. Just wanted to know how good this monitor is. B&H has it for $384.95 - that's cheaper than EVS I believe, which surprised me.

Thanks!

direktor, I have no experience with the 10", but with the TM-H 1700
monitor which is a pretty good piece of hardware.
A bit heavy and doesn't run on batteries but excellent picture, high resolution and all features you will ever need.
You might consider going for the 17" and use an LCD screen for the field.

I've been wondering about this particular monitor as well. My big this is BUDGET, so for the price, I'm wondering if it's worth it.

The recently introduced 15 inch version is also worth a look. 700 line resolution. All the useful test functions. Y/C input and optional SDI plug-in board.

The model number is TM-H150CG (in Euroland, maybe different Stateside). Street price aprox. 650 Euros.

I have this monitor and I am happy with it. It fits anywhere and you can use it (carefully) in the field.

Cheers!

Gaulbert:

Which of these monitors do you have? The 10" I am looking at or the 13" that is mentioned above?

Helmet: I haven't heard about the 15" - thanks for the model number. I will look that up. The 17" is just so darn large. I can't imagine lugging that thing around.

Thanks to all! I will let you know what I find.

JVC TM-A101GU 10"

By the way, my only regret is that it does not have a degausser :(
