Hey guys!

Tryin to come up with a name for my production "company." What do you guys think about "Blinding Light Productions?"
 
What is your company about? That would make a difference. If its cerebral art house films, then no, that name is corny. But if its about action flicks and wide market appeal, sure, its okay I guess.

I personally do not like it, but then again I named my comapany Zampano. What do I know.
 
How about mixing it up a bit? Something like Blind Light Productions. I dunno, just go with what you like. As long it's not totally cheese-tacular it'll work. Some places go with cool-sounding names like Propaganda or Fahrenheit and others just use initials like MJZ. It's the work that gets them noticed. Although, starting out, sounding professional certainly helps. :)
 
I think it sounds fine. Just saying that if you don't have a reputation yet, naming your company Wild Bill's House o' Video 'n' Wings might scare off some clients.
 
pro? yeah it sounds like any number of production companies. m. night shyamalan uses blinding edge pictures, fyi. what's important is that it have meaning to you. something more significant than it "sounds cool". that's my opinion. i named my production company sabi pictures after a japanese word that (as andrei tarkovsky defined it) literally means 'rust', but is used to describe anything that captures the passing of time. like wrinkles in the face, a worn down wooden chair, an old well-handled photograph, etc. seemed appropriate for a temporal based artform as well as the for the type of films I make. it is also the second half of the wabi-sabi aesthetic which one could some up as appreciation for "imperfect beauty". and the fact that all my stories deal with the brokenness of our daily lives, that too made the same seem much more appropriate.

so, the short version of this post is a simple recommendation to come up with a name that resonates with you in some meaningful way. otherwise, after the "new car smell" wears off in a year or so, you'll find yourself wanting to change it again.
 
I picked my company's name only because of the [what I think is a] cool idea for a logo. And I think the look of your logo is gonna be more impacting than the name. I almost went with Cloud9 Productions, but couldn't think of a logo. Blinding Light does have some potential, although it's a tad of a mouthful. I'd say try to come up with a logo/animation and see whatcha think!
 
Yikes!!

Just saw that there is a BLP on IMDB. It's those guys that made Ryan VS Dorkman, the SW fan film. Crud. What about Blinding Light Pictures?

so people could confuse you with the other blinding light productions? No, not a good idea.
 
Sounds good enough to me, once you settle on a name then it definitely will start to sound better. I've thought of many names for my production company, but after 2-3 weeks of sitting on a name i feel the need to change it. There's the good old "Last Name Films" or use your initials theories which seem to work or off the wall names like Fuzzy Door Productions. It really doesnt matter, the product is what determines everything not the name of the company that made it. Do you honestly think that Snakes on a Plane would have been better under a different company name???

Pick one, stick with it and move on to important issues like producing good videos/films!
