Production Boat Set Up

Well, down here in south Louisiana, we're rigging a boat for some shoots we're going to have out in the lakes, bayous and swamps around here. Small boat, 18 ft, no big deal.

So, we need to mount a monitor on a rail in the cockpit with a C-clamp. Looking at the Marshal 8" everyone is talking about. There will be four locations around the boat we will have semi-permenent tie-offs for two tripods, a CineSaddle, a MiniSaddle, and harness for a hand held operator to shoot without having to use his legs or hands to hold his balance. (depending on the shots we need at the time).

So, how long can we run a cable from the monitor to the HVX? What's the max we can expect?

Sun shades for the monitor and camera. Any suggestions? Mostly sunrise and sunset shots. But we will have to get some middle of the day shots.

Considering a seperate audio recorder, just to avoid problems (and for when we shoot undercranked and need sound at the same time). Already have great wireless mics we love. But considering the pros and cons of recording sound to camera or to sound recording device in this situation.

Any ideas welcome.

Now, if working with fiberglass didn't itch so much...
