Product Issues with Rostronics.com

So first they were good, but then they were bad, but now they are good again?

This story is confusing.

Looks like he got it squared away. Luckily as I am considering some of their products.

Yeah I recieved broken stuff basically.

The issue with the one light is being handled but the second light simply shuts down on me every few minutes. That's a big problem as I nor anyone else can afford to gamble a light shutting off during a scene. I asked if he was going to resolve this as well and he said that he'd ship me a new bulb tomorrow but it can't be the bulb can it? I mean, if a bulb blows out then it's dead. It won't just come back to life again, lol.

I'll try this new bulb but I'll be shocked if the bulb was the issue with this second light.

as for changing the title, I don't think I can and besides I don't think I should even if I had the access to do so. If anyone wants to do research on them through our search feature here then they should know the good and the bad. This is a bad experience being handled to satisfy the customer, it's the full story in one thread. why change anything?

Tom is being really good to me to help the issue with the one light I just hope his remedy for the second light works out.

i dunno. i'm a bit nervous now. if i'm going to spend $600+ on lights- i'm not going to want any problems. i might stick with evs...never have had problems with them, never heard anyone who has had problems with them. if not, im going to build a flourescent set...home-depot it. we'll see. let me know how you like the lights coffee, when you get the fixed ones.

The only reason I suggested changing the title is because it seems a bit harsh. Let's say someone new to the board does do a search for "Rostronics" and this post pops up. Then he/she only reads the first couple of entry's they may be completely put off from buying from them. The reality is that if they were to read the ENTIRE post they would see that Tom has come through to correct the problem. It's not like Tom purposely dropped Coffee's light and broke it, then just packaged it up and shipped it to you. It's more a problem with the shipping then with Rostronics as far as the damage is concerned. Of course Rostronics should (and I bet will) step up and correct the problem and in the end you'll be a happy customer with this harshly titled post floating out over the net forever....

As for the other issue with the light turning on & off.... that doesn't sound like a bulb problem but I didn't understand your problem with it until your last post. Maybe that's why Tom is confused too and thinks it's the bulb.

And it's easy to change the title, just click on modify/go advanced - voila...

I had problems, but Tom is very helpful and has great customer service. I have bought quite a few lights from them - 6, and when I had a problem he replaced it immediately.

I think you are making a big mistake if you decide not to purchase and give them a try. Yes, some have problems, but Tom seems to always make it right.

I think the title is too harsh at this point.

Good luck and enjoy,

I once bought a simple 300w light with light stand and barn doors and they shipped it without the barn doors.......

I found the speed rings totally suck. The screws strip after a few uses and the unit comes apart. I had to tape the crap out of them to get them hold the tention again. They got me through a few shoots but Im not going to buy these again.

I had the same problem, but I just drilled holes in it and ran bolts with lock nuts through it. It wouldn't come apart now if I wanted it to.
