I've searched a bunch of threads here on DVX, but couldn't find anything that helps with a professional product delivery. So I thought maybe we could start one....

I'm having a little trouble with a clients product delivery. They have presented a list of things I need to slate, add, etc.. to the video. Most of which I understand, but some I don't. I'm self-taught and have finally made my way out of the small gigs and on to the bigger ones, but don't know everything yet... :)

Here's is what I need to follow for my final product delivery. I'm am exporting to 10 bit uncompressed and then taking this to production house to be copied to digibeta.

I. The items listed on this Exhibit A must be delivered to Company's office.

Address: Companies name here
City, State, zip

A. Video

1. Start SMPTE time code at start of color bars and run continuously to end of tape.

2. 60 seconds of color bars with 1KHz tones at 0 VU +/- 1db to be recorded on all active audio tracks.

3. Production Company slate running 5 seconds containing the following information:

a. Production Company

b. Director

c. Editor

4. Company name slate running simultaneously with 10 second countdown containing the following information:

a. Artist name

b. Artist label

c. Song title

d. Song timing

e. Date of Online

f. NTSC or PAL stereo

g. ISRC#:

5. The Program

6. Copyright notice reading:

Companies Name here with copywrite logo

to run 3 to 5 seconds immediately following program.

7. After program, MOS (no audio) black with time code to end of tape.
B. Audio

1. Audio to be provided by Company

2. Program must be mastered onto original master audio element provided by Company.

C. Copies

1. One (1) Digital Beta tape clones of original master, with time code identical to the original master, conforming to all the specifications described in Sections I. A and B above.

2. One (1) DVD with Full Resolution HD Uncompressed QuickTime video file, and One (1) DVD with QuickTime video file

3. All masters and copies must have the following information on the outside of the packages:

a. Companies Name here

b. Artist's name

c. Song title

d. Song timing

e. Date of Online

f. Production Company name
D. Element Delivery

1. All original film and videotape elements relating to the production of the Video, including all masters of the outtakes, still photographs, audio source material, etc. must be delivered to Company.
2. Delivery elements as described above must be boxed and inventoried containing the following information:

a. Artist

b. Song title

c. Song timing

d. Production Company name, address and telephone number

e. Director's name

f. Itemized description of all delivery items corresponding to each box

3. Two (2) copies of the completed inventory of the contents of each box should be distributed to Company as follows:

a. One (1) copy to be placed inside of box

b. One (1) copy to be affixed to the outside of the box

E. Talent Releases

A complete list of talent participating in the video [i.e. any person shown in the video or outtakes (other than Artist)] and corresponding release forms for each such person as required under Paragraph 4 of the Agreement.

What I'm having trouble with is

- 4. Company name slate running simultaneously with 10 second countdown containing the following information: ( I'm not seeing a countdown within FCP )

- e. Date Of Online ? (am I suppose to ask the label when it's to be shown or )

- g. ISRC# ? ( is this the date the video is printed to digibeta )

- 5. The Program ? (Am I suppose to ask the label where this is going or leave it blank )

- 7. After program, MOS (no audio) black with time code to end of tape ? ( I understand the MOS part, but the time code... Do I just add a TCR and set the Frame Offset to my projects settings/TC )

My project was shot with a HVX200a - FS100 at DVCPRO HD 720 24p. Timeline set to DVCPRO HD 720 60p

"Without sounding like an ..s, if you're having problems with the four above, read more into broadcast delivery."

I've searched but couldn't find what I was looking for. Have any links ?

"I seriously suggest you read about the other parts as well, bars and tone is VERY VERY VERY important not to screw up onto Digibeta, as they may add double +7.5 setup to your program material based on 0.0 bars and tone vs. your real program material."

I set the bars & tone to -1db as described in the contract.

"ISRC is a unique recording number applied to all audio recordings. Given out by the IFPI.

You need to apply for it and get it, for the FINAL FINAL FINAL verison of the recoring, any re-edits/sound remixing/mastering/finalizing would constitute another ISRC.
"

I think it's a little late for me to apply for this, not unless I can get it within a couple of days. I've never been asked to use one.... I was told it's the date you export it, is that wrong ?

"Each tape has a "SLATE" like "Produced By: So and So blah blah blah".
Depending on the standard, this could be 4 seconds or 10, joined with BEEP in tones, and 2 seconds of black and silens.

5 4 3 (BLACK) (BLACK ) PROGRAM VIDEO
Beep, Beep, Beep, <silence> <silence> PROGRAM AUDIO"

Yes got this part done. I know it needed the 2 - 5 sec black, but didn't know it needed a beep. What kind of beep ? Set to what +/- db ?

"The numbers counting down on your Slate can be made in After Effects or Apple Motion.

So it would look like"

Sorry don't really use either, how so ?

"And it would go from 5 to 3 every 1 second exactly. etc.."

Not sure what you're trying to say here ?

"BY TIMECODE they mean TIMECODE on the tape, not to be confused with Timecode Reader burning the timecode into picture. In order to embed Timecode you'll need a Digibeta Deck and a Kona like board with TC or LTC."

Since I'm going to a editing house for the digibeta copy, what do I do ?

"Here is the funniest part of the whole thing though... They are going to take this Digitbeta you make, and Capture Digitaly it into their BroadCast system and turn it into MPEG-2 Transport Stream. Thats why they need all this BS.
Ask your client about DG FastChannel delivery instead just in case. (Somehow I'm assuming its a Music Video due to ISRC requirements)"

..... ? Why wouldn't it lose more quality ? What's the DG FastChannel delivery ?

Yes it's a MV
