Procedure for setting up Cinemek G35 with HPX170 camcorder and 50mm Nikon lens?

Hey everyone. What is the correct way to set up the Cinemek G35 adapter with my HPX170 and a Nikon 50mm lens? I attached everything together but, it looks all out of focus and I'm not sure if my camcorder should be zoomed in all the way, zoomed out all the way or somewhere in between, so I don't get vignetting? What f-stop should the lens be at for the sharpest image in broad daylight? I'm a total noob at this. Somebody please help! Thanks.

Attach all your gizmo's zoom all the way in into ground glass, focus camera's lens on that. Then zoom out to where the vignette is just outside zoom range. Set Iris on camera to wide open or 2.8. Then tape off zoom and iris. Attach 35mm lens turn on spinning ground glass and you should be fine.

Thanks, JD. I'll give that a try. The G35 doesn't have a spinning ground glass. Its static. Does that matter?
