Problems with Vegas burnt DVD

Alright, I am at the end of my rope right now so I hope that someone can help me out or point me in the right direction.
I have completed two projects on Vegas and so far the DVDs that I have burnt will not play on a majority of DVD players. They won't even play back on the drives that I burnt them on. But they play on my Sony DVD player.
Has anyone ran into this problem?
Thanks for your help, this forum rocks!

Should have nothing to do with Vegas. Possibly the authoring/burning program.

But the most likely cause is the type/brand of disc used.

Verbatim is good. Yuden is better. + or -R is better than RW.

When I had DVD Architect 2, I was almost never able to burn a dvd properly, for some reason. There would be stuff on it. But every player and computer would read it as nothing there. I upgraded to 3.0 and it worked fine.

What version are you using?

Jason

I have tried two different DVD brands. Memorex and Starlogic, both are -R. I will try some other brands and see if they work.
My version of DVD Architect is 2.0, I am also having that problem when I put the disc back in my drives on the computer.
Thanks again for the help. :dankk2:

Apparently a brand name does not guarantee a specific manufacturing site and not all manufacturing sites are equal.

Scroll down about half way and read "Biggest Misconceptions"
then look at brands listed under
the Good--
the bad--
the ugly---etc.

First, Thanks to all of you that replied to the thread I appreciate the help and insight.
Second, Last night as a last ditch effort I had some old Memorex DVD +RWs laying around. I put one in and behold it worked! The disc would play in my computer and in my other DVD player, and I am happy to say my video guy said that his equipment is reading it as well. Crisis averted.
I was discussing the problem earlier with some fellow collegues and I was told that Sony is notorius for using +R technology. He also said that Sony created the +R format. I don't know how true that is but knowing how Sony likes to make things a little difficult by making their own formats and modular designs, (Blue Ray) I would'nt put it past them.
Now, don't think that im bashing Sony, I prefer the brand if I can afford it. But my problem with that is the simple fact that my burner is not a Sony it's an LG. I guess my question is: Has anyone heard of this? If it that is the case, why would the software effect the drive?
Once again, thanks you guys!

I have had the same problem with DVD Arch 3. Dvds created with that using my sony DVD writer itself wont play properly. I can see the burn mark on the disc. The final window says disc burn successful. The it gets ugly from there on. The disc wont play on my laptop. Wont play on my dvd player. Then it will sometimes play on my laptop. But wont go beyond the menu. Sometimes even freezing up the system completely.

Could be the drive in your laptop. Try opening the disk as a data disk -- right-click and choose "explore" -- and drag the Video_TS folder to your hard drive. Play the folder with your WinDVD or whatever DVD playing program you use. If you can do that, then the data on the disk is OK.

Hi David, But opeing the file and playing it....hmmm. We want it to play on dvd players. But anyways even explore shows the disk as blank. The suddenly its shows as full. Click the file and it freezes the system. Forget my laptop. Why wont it play on my dvd player ....and on the very same sony DVD writer that burnt it ? It doesnt play anywhere. Very rarely will it suddenly play one frame. Will you believe i burnt 28 disks in a row. Not one worked. Till date the dvd arch burn doesnt work. Pop the same brand dvd into the same burner and burn thru Powerdirector software and voila ! a perfectly playing dvd. With dumb features...which is the downside of Powerdirector. All it offers are birthday party styled menus etc. Very limited choices etc. Hmm...why wont DVDarch work ?

You may have a a quirky or bad burner, then. DVD Architect DOES work, and well. I've burned hundreds using it, and the HVX BootCamp DVD was mastered using it.

Maybe should i try another brand of blanks etc. Will that make a difference ?
Im currently using a brand that only states 4x on the disc. Maybe something there ?

I've used 8x dvd but burned them at 4x speed and found pretty good results..especially on generic bulk dvd's.

Now if anyone has burned any HDV footage at 24p or 24f... how did the footage comeout on their DVD's using Architect 4.0? My timeline output looks fuzzy when editing because i am using my standard monitors on a downconverted dv from HDV.
