Problems with RayLight and AE 7.0 Pro

After I convert my MXF files to avi and use them in AE, I begin to get sporadic yet recurring problems. When I first import footage, it plays back fine, but after a certain time of use, the playback gets screwy and I get error messages from Raylight saying "Could not create Decode Thread" and sometimes from After Effetcs saying "After Effects error: retrieving frame from video stream (3) (53::34)".
If anyone can offer some tips, suggestions, links, plug-ins, ect.... that can helo and fix this problem it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

What version of Raylight do you have, and how's your "commit charge"
(in Win task manager/performance tab) in relation to physical memory when the problem occurs?

check your AE memory settings. go to edit->preferences->memory and cache.

set your maximum memory usage to 75%, and your maximum ram cache size to 50%. you should also enable a disk cache and set it to whatever you like, mine is @ 5000 mb. I used to get the same error your getting with the same thing .. after a while of useage ...when i was using ALOT.. and I mean ALOT of HD layers and imported PS content to make some interesting comps with alot of effects applied. at first i just solved it intermittently by going to edit->purge->all to clear the video memory and ram cache and such, but then i just lowered the amount of ram used and IVE almost completely stopped running into these ram overflow errors. I think i had it maybe once after that on teh same project, and then its run smoothely since.. even finishing up the same project.. no hitches. anyway these settings work great for me but you may want to try to experiment with them if they dont work for you off the bat. the issue definitely stems from RAM usage

Neil thank you so much for the help. You just solved my problem for the most part. I appreciate you taking the time to answer these questions.

Again, Thanks.
