Problems with my manual white balance

I've been experiencing a situation with my ag-dvx100a where I try a manual white balance and my camera refuses to white balance. I have to try repeatedly to get it to work, sometimes changing my zoom setting, the angle of the white board and the like.

Has anyone had this experience and know why this occurs?
