Problems with Lens adaptors for DVX100a

So I recently borrowed some 72mm wide angle and telephoto lenses for my dvx100a. They fit fine and seem to be very well built lenses, but when I screw them onto the camera, even with no filters on, there is a black ring around the edges of the video. I have to zoom in a bit on both to make the round edges go away. Anyone know if I am doing something wrong? Is this normal? I thought the whole point of like, lets say, a wide angle lens is that you can get more out of the frame and NOT have to zoom in, thus making these lenses pointless.
 
You might want to try 82mm ones and use a step down ring (82mm -> 72mm) to avoid the vignetting that you are experiencing.
 
Sounds like you're using the Digital Optics or Crystal Optics lenses. They may be 72mm, but they just don't work with the DVX...
