Problems with DVI output

Sorry for the newbie question, but I'm totally frustrated. I just hooked up a new 19" Samsung LCD HD monitor to my G4 Powerbook and it works great... until I try to play any video on it. The enitre screen on the LCD monitor jitters slightly every few seconds or so. Even SD video shakes. Even DVDs make the screen tremble. The monitor is fine for everything except motion video. I have it hooked up from my DVI port to a the DVI(HDCP) input on the monitor. I'm totally frustrated.
I've taken the monitor into the field with my HVX and it works fantastic as a production monitor, but when I hook it up to my laptop, the shakes return.
Am I obviously doing something wrong, or is my video card not up to snuff, or do I need to adjust some settings that I'm too obtuse to see right now? Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like the video card may not be able to push the signal to the Lcd.
You may try changing the resolution on both the monitor and laptop or try a smaller monitor. Or send the signal just to the monitor with the laptop screen off. If a smaller one works it's a good sign that it is your video card
that isn't "up to snuff."

Go to you monitor control panel and look over the resolutions available. Experiment. My 17" Powerbook pushes a 30" Apple Cinema Display fine, just not a full res. And when I hook up my projector to do classes, if I go direct DVI to DVI, multiclip editing freezes up. If I go DVI to VGA, it's fine. Just FYI, best of luck!
