Here's my system - Panasonic DVX100b, Macbook Pro, 2 GB RAM, plenty of disk space, FCP6
My first 10 tapes worked (reasonably) smoothly with batch capture. Now, the last couple of tapes I've tried to capture with an imported list and it keeps failing. It captured the first few clips on the one tape, but now it just keeps saying 'unable to communicate with the VTR' It can't be the external drive because it loses contact before it has found the scene. It's not the tape because I've tried another one. When I open batch capture, it seems to be able to establish communication and attempts to line up the clip, but then loses it. The system needs re-booting every time it loses contact. The refresh in the view menu has never worked.
I'm able to use 'capture now', but obviously this is of limited use. I don't know what else to check. Is the problem with the camera or the computer?
