Problems capturing NTSC HD footage (usually use PAL)

I'm using FCP HD5. I usually edit in PAL but I have some NTSC footage to edit. I've changed my easy set-up to DV NTSC and created a new project with these settings. I am using a Sony DSR11 to capture the media which can play PAL and NTSC tapes. I have the DSR11 hooked up to a TV aswell as my computer. When I open 'log and capture' I can see the footage playing on my TV and I can see the timecode displayed in the 'log and capture' window. It says 'VTR OK' but it says 'preview disabled'. I can log clips but I can't capture them. When I try I get a message saying 'this operation could not be completed as there is no video'. Please help with suggestions of how I can capture and edit this footage,
