problem with truncated vob file

I am trying to use vegas (6c) to correct an audio sync problem on a rendered DVD (not copyrighted). I understand about the ac3 issue although it seems as though I have read conflicting posts about the ability of vegas to import the audio. Nevertheless I have several ways to convert the ac3 to wave first if need be.

I have two questions...

First, whenever I drag the vob (renamed to mpg or otherwise) to the timeline, the clip which should be 30 minutes displays a single thumbnail on the timeline and only imports the first 11 seconds. Am I missing something obvious?

Second, what is the best way to resync a DVD?... I will need to shift the entire audio track in order to resync so it seems as though joining the 3 vobs before demuxing and importing would be best. Whats the best way to do this and also, how do I avoid rerendering any video so that quality is maintained?

What is your DVD software? I'm pretty sure both Encore and DVD architect alow you to place seperate audio tracks in, and delete ones you don't want, o ones that are embedded with video. Seems your simplest bet (once you get the video thing worked out, which I can't help you with, since I've never had that problem) would be to use the existing video, figure out how much you need to shift the audio, shift it, render out ONLY an AC3 file with the correct timing, place your video in your DVD software, delete the audio, and put in your retimed audio.

That way, you may bypass all the video problems altogther, and certainly wouldn't need to rerender video.
