Problem with timecodes

Hi everybody. I'm having a real problem right now with some of my clips. I'm working in DV - NTSC 23,98 (footage from DVX100A) in FCP 6.0.5.

The problem is that FCP (for two clips only... out of 40) seems to be reading the content of my quicktime file in a different timecode than the original one. So when I'm editing in real time I am seeing the wrong FCP timecode, but as soon as I render, I get some kind of time jump in those particular clips: after the render I am now seeing what should be the original timecode of the Quicktime file (at least the one which corresponds to what I see when I open the file in Quicktime).

I have absolutely no idea what is going on and would love to have some help! The files seems to be imported correctly, in 23,98 and in the right formats...

Thanks.

I'm no Barry but I'll give it a whirl.

Have you looked at the "movie properties" in quicktime. (apple+j)
There should be a time code track. Compare it's settings to a similar clip that is behaving properly. Perhaps that can steer you in the right direction.

No, sadly. It would be quite an adventure to find them again on tapes I'm afraid. Your opinion is that the only solution would be to recapture?

Thanks for your comment.

I don't know for sure if your problem is corrupt media, but when I've had similar problems in the past that has always been the culprit. You could try transcoding the offending clips into another codec (DV50 maybe or ProRes) and see if fixes the problem or not.
