Problem with Sony F900

Hi,

We were shooting witn an F900 today, and after about 20mins of film, we decided to review the footage. The camera played through, the timecode was consistent with no breaks. However the video was just a black screen with pink blocks and stripes. Theres no video under the distortion, its just the pink blocks and stripes.

At this point we thought that the camera hadnt recorded the footage down to the tape, but when rewinding backwards, the soundman heard the audio playing backwards over the audio system, so it obviously recorded something down.

We tried differnt tapes from differnt batches, differnt monitors and EVFs, and we tried recording and playing back from new tapes, and nothing worked.

We had to draft in another F900 (this one an F900r) to re-start the filming, and have since had no problems.

Just wondered if anyone else had this problem and knew how to fix it?

Thanks.

It sounds as if you had a bum camera. Maybe something wrong with the recording mechanism or the sensor.

I've never had an issue with an F900. Sounds like yours just didn't like you, or flatlined. I tend to believe it was the latter issue.
