So I'm sure this is an age old question, picked up a 77b, low volume, sound comes through but signal is really low. I've scoured the web and heard it might be a shot transistor from dropping it or cables might be loose. I popped it open but the more sensible side of me said not to screw with anything. Cables didn't look frayed but I wouldn't be an expert on that either. Now I got this thing knowing it needed work. Anyone know of a good repair place in NYC? Or have a guess at what something like this might cost? I've seen the Sony repair place in Jersey but I didn't want to deal with shipping it anywhere; I figured they'd take forever to fix this. I have a few buddies who are electronics wizards who can fix anything they touch, I'd like to ask them too but I wanted to ask here first and see if anyone would tell me it's way to specialized of a repair and that I should have it taken to a sony shop or something. Either way, thanks for your help!
