I've a Mac G5 and when I powered the screen on, everything was in black and white but more than taht, it was like a solarize effect in photoshop. (kind of infrared image). My screen doesn't have any problems because I have a PC near my Mac and I plugged the screen on the PC and it works. When I tried to shut down and boot the mac, when my deskop arrive and everything loads, it's in color for few seconds than it return to ¨infrared¨

Any idea on what's happening?

I didn't know if I had to post it here or in the Hardware section...

sounds like you may have a video card problem. If you can get into your system preferences, check your display settings and make sure they're set to "millions of colors"

A Mac having problems? Preposterous...rubbish.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Maybe the mac guys can chime in with what's wrong.

Yeah...if it were a PC, I believe it....but a Mac. PPSSSSHHHHHHH!!!

Sounds like you have a video card problem then. Try zapping the PRAM on startup first and see if that helps anything. Hold down Command+Option+P+R when you start up your machine and it will do the dong sound. Keep holding it and it will restart and dong again. Then you can let go. It's worth a try. If that doesn't work, it may be a hardware problem. What card is in it? Also, what is your system spec?
