Problem with Interlacing Twitter in Playback

I'm having problems viewing a bunch of footage shot at 1080i with an hvx200 and fs-100 firestore.

I captured it using FCP 6 onto one computer and the footage played fine. When I opened up the project on another system, all of the footage had interlacing twitter.

The footage still plays on one computer, but I can't get it to work on the other. I went through and set all the playback and sequence settings to the exact same as the first computer, but still couldn't get it to work.

Any ideas what I'm missing here?

Thanks.

Do both systems have FCP? You need Final Cut Pro with the DVCPROHD codec to be able to view. If you shot 60i then the interlacing should be there and if you shot 24p then the footage just needs to have the pulldown removed. You can use DVFilm's MXFX to remove the pulldown if it's not an advanced pulldown otherwise FCP should be able to remove the advanced pulldown.

Best,
Andy

Thanks for your response.

Both Computers have FCP 6 with the DVCPROHD codec. We shot 1080i24. If it is a problem with the pulldown how is it still playing normally on the first computer?

Let me try and describe the problem a little clearer. When the project is loaded on the second computer, all of the clips have horizontal lines that panel over the image. This happens especially during motion. This happens in both the viewer and the canvas. We have quite a bit of footage like this, so I am trying to find a solution where I won't have to export or compress all of it.

Meanwhile, the footage plays normally without any of these problems on the first computer. This is also the computer it was originally transferred onto.

As you can see I am more than a little confused. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Jon

Any chance on canvas/viewer is set to 100% and the other not?

And tell me again WHY you think interlacing is a problem?

Ok, so I just saw that the clip plays fine in the Canvas (and the sequence). It would seem that now it is just a problem in the Viewer.

It plays correctly (without flickering) in the Canvas when the field dominance is Odd. Is it possible to change the viewer settings to have an odd field dominance? If so, how?

Thanks so much!

Do you know what you actually did when you changed the field dominance? What video did you shoot (PAL, NTSC)? What was your capture setting?

I mean... I sure would like to know what I'm doing and not just do something because you THINK it worked.

Hey -- go bang your head with a hammer... because it feels so good when you stop!
