problem with final cut pro... but, in vegas.

I have a client that uses Final Cut Pro. He gets anxious and edits his rough cuts in FCP and then burns an AVI and sends that to me on DVCam. ( I have no idea how he gets it to DVcam since I don't know FCP... but I assume he just burns it right from his timeline to DVcam)

Ok, so when I get it and I bring it in thru vegas and open it to fine tune his edits It's 11 frames out of sync.

The audio and the video don't match. However... it seems to start off normal, then it get out of sync as it goes on. I THINK.

I say I THINK because the first hour or so of the movie didn't have any noticeable on camera sound sync marks. For example I can hear off camer noise but I can't tell if it's 11 frames off at that point because... it's off camera. I do know for a fact that towards the end of the movie it is indeed EXACTLY 11 frames off, and it doesn't seem to get MORE off, it always seems 11 frames off.. so I just assumed that the first half is 11 frames off as well.

Has anyone EVER heard of that?? Id it just me? Am I going crazy? Is there one stupid setting I'm missing when I bring the footage in?

If this is common... WHY?!?!?!?! WHY DOES IT DO THAT!?!!? What's the FU@#*%G POINT??!?! :'(

Is he using drop-frame or non-drop-frame timecode?

Should be an easy fix, though, if the whole thing is out of sync by the same amount. Sounds like a render problem in FCP, though, not a problem with Vegas.

Cool thanks. I'll ask him. I didn't mean to imply it was a vegas problem. I figured it was an FCP problem. I just thought maybe there was an FCP feature (in vegas) that I wa missing.

I guess I was hoping Vegas would have some sort of FCP corrector setting.

Thanks though, I'll see what it is he's doing to his render.
