Problem with editing / viewing of the project

I'm having problems with my 10 Vegas!
When I import the video to Sony Vegas and play in the timeline, the video display is very slow, even for low quality setting. What can be? My computer is a Core Duo 2.0GHz, 320GB hard drive, video card XFX Gforce 9500GT 1GB and 2GB memory. I have a Canon T3i Card 16GB Class 10.

When viewing the video in another program such as Windows Media Player Pro or similar is fine and no problems! Could it be my processor or I know I'm not set up Vegas?

I did a test with a recording at 640x480 and 30fps (low quality) and the same edict without any problems and without locking the video.

Thanks

Your computer is woefully underpowered for dealing with footage from that camera.
The minimum recommendation these days is an i7 processor with as much RAM as you can afford (at least 8 GB.), running Windows 7 and having at least two hard drives (one for all your programs and the other for all your audio and video assets and render purposes).

Yes, your processor is very slow and you don't have much RAM. If you want to edit the native footage smoothly, you'll need to upgrade.

Probably going to have to edit proxies. use handbrake or something to create low res of all the clips, edit using those, then replace footage and render.

Or you can just do a selective pre-render on small segments of the film. I pre-render using a widescreen DV template and the pre-rendered section plays smoothly.
