problem viewing playback from FCP on DVX

Hey guys,
I have run in to a very frustrating situation. I am using my DVX as a VTR (I know it's stupid) with Final Cut Pro 4.1 and firewire. For some reason, fcp has stopped sending the playback of my sequences through my firewire cable. IT WAS doing it only yesterday, but I have spent most of today's editing trying to figure out why I can't see my sequences on my broadcast monitor. I know that the firewire is working because I can capture perfectly. I also did not change any a/v device settings. They are set to firewire ntsc, different output for recording is turned off. What is going on? Please help. I need to color correct using my monitor and I can't. Thanks so much.

Re: problem viewing playback from FCP on DVX

FCP has a bad habit of changing this setting...

View - External Video - All Frames. I bet it was set to off.... not by you, but by the little mouse inside FCP that makes it work.

Good luck,

Yea usually I have to go into the drop down menu under FCP and select Audio Video>AV Devices> Uncheck Mirror on Desktop then REcheck the box then make sure ALL FRAMES is selected in the view external menu then my external monitor's screen turns to blue then I see my picture. I am not sure why I have to uncheck the Mirror on desktop box then recheck everytime though.

If you're using FCP 4.1 then you should upgrade (for free) to FCP 4.5 (HD)
