problem outputting to dvd

I have some video footage that was shot in 60i and I cropped to 16 9 in vegas. When I preview it on my tv from the timeline it looks fine, but when I pre render it to the dvd Architect and preview it on my tv i get the interlace lines around any moving object. ??? Am I missing something here? I'm using the ntsc dv widescreen template in vegas, and outputing to DVDA with the DVD architech NTSC widescreen video stream template. mark.

Your settings are right, but I'm not too impressed with DVD-A's preview output. Burn it to a rewritable DVD and play it. Chances are, it'll be fine. If not, post back and we'll move on to the next possible problem.

Re: problem outputting to dvd

I just burnt a dvd and the interlace problem is still their. ???

Re: problem outputting to dvd

Does anybody have a solution to this problem? I'm convinced it's a problem within vegas and not DVDA. mark.

Re: problem outputting to dvd

What are your project settings in Vegas? Not the render settings, but the project settings?

project settings

project settings

My project settings are:
NTSC DV Widescreen (720x480, 29.970 fps)
Field order (lower field first)
Pixel aspect ratio, 1.2121 (NTSC DV Widescreen)
Frame rate, 29.970 (NTSC)

Re: problem outputting to dvd

Two things you can try:

1) Change the field order to upper field first.

2) If that doesn't help, then change your project settings to the NTSC DV (non-widescreen) template, and then render out as widescreen. If you keep your crops intact, it should be fine.

Re: problem outputting to dvd

I tried both things and I still have the same result. I'm testing it on the timeline. I selectively prerender about 10 seconds of fast moving footage and when I preview on the timline I can see the interlace lines in the preview window, once I scrub past the pre rendered part it looks fine.

Re: problem outputting to dvd

Wow, that's bad -- I've never seen anything like that. Any chance of posting a raw clip so I can see if it does the same for me?

Re: problem outputting to dvd

hmm that banding is so wide it's hard to tell if it's even an interlacing issue. Maybe chroma problems? Never seen that before.

Try killing the widescreen pixel aspect ratio.
