Problem in Trimmer

I was up late editing last night and must have accidentally changed some default setting because the Trimmer is acting strange.  Normally, when I play a clip in the Trimmer and mark the in and out points, the footage on the Trimmer timeline gets highlighted and can be added to the project timeline.  However, now when I mark the in and out points, the timeline footage section doesn't change color--all I get are time selection brackets above the timeline tracks.  Any ideas on what I mucked up?

That is normal behavior. When you mark whilst playing, the selected area isn't highlighted but you can still double-click the gray bar to highlight the area. If you set your points without playing, then it will highlight.

I think if you hit "Tab," you can scroll through select audio only, select video only, select both, select neither, but I am no Vegas master.

Gary--thanks! I normally use my shuttle to set the in and out points and I started using the jkl keys last night. It seems odd that the behavior changes during "normal" playback. I suppose there's a reason, though.

Gabe--thanks, I thought it might have been that, but I checked it.
