Problem Importing .psd Layers suddenly

Hey all,

I'm about to tear my hair out on this... I can't figure out what the problem is. I scanned in drawings in photoshop, masked off separate layers to animate, saved as .psd's, then imported the layers as compositions in AE CS3. Everything has been working great. Well, I did a little work on one of my .psd's, saved it, tried to import it into AE, and for some reason, it only comes in as footage... I can't get the separate layers. Importing as composition no matter how I do it gives me a folder named after the .psd layers... but then in the folder is just my .psd file without the separate layers.

All my other .psd's work fine. When I import them, a dialog pops up asking if I want to merge the layer styles or not. I never get that with the aforementioned .psd... it just pops into the project without layers. In Photoshop, the project has all its layers, and I'm saving it as a photoshop .psd. I don't understand what the problem is... any ideas?

Thanks!
Brad

if you open up the aftermentioned.psd back in PS does it open with layers? Sounds like maybe you flattend the file in PS?

That's just odd. I've never run into that problem before. Maybe if you save the file with a different filename it will work. You can always use the Replace Footage option if needed.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the replies. Well, I found the problem. After looking in the channels, I realized that somehow, my color space switched to CMYK. Really weird as I was just masking, but I must have changed it somehow along the way before saving. Anyways, once I switched it back to RGB, things were fine.

Thanks again!
Brad
