---Problem importing .Mp4 File into FCP---

Hey guys, I recently had to rip a file from a DVD (using Handbrake) and it gave me an .Mp4 file - however when I try importing the file into FCP i get an "unrecognized file type" error. Any ideas?

FCP doesn't play with MP4 files very well. That's what I hate about Handbreak, it does MP4 files. I use Cinematize 2 and get NTSC-DV ready to edit files.

Open that file in QTPlayer, Export it as NTSC-DV to edit with.

MPEG StreamClip (free) can convert/rip DVDs to NTSC DV as well.

Yeah MP4 is bad for FCP- but MPEG Streamclip is free and does a fine job of converting to a more edit-happy format. I'd go ProRes.
