Problem importing long (spanned) clips from Firestore FS-100

I imagine someone else has had this issue, and any advice would be appreciated. I did 10 shots on my FS. All were 1-2 minutes except for one long (80 minute) shot. All were shot in P2 Native (720/24P). I then Organized P2 in the FS and, through FCP, used the Import P2 to capture.

Problem: the 9 short clips came through, but the long clip would not transfer to the bin (though it showed up fine in the Import P2 window): when I looked at the Media file in the capture hard drive, there was just a 32KB empty folder. The Import P2 window would still take a while to "download" the clip, but with no result. I managed to import most the long clip as a series of shorter shots by setting consecutive in and out points, but after 9 of those the system refused to import anymore and I got the original result (an empty folder in the hard drive and nothing in the bin).

How do you guys import long (spanned) P2 shots from the FS into FCP?

I am having the same issues and have been searching for a solution. Does anyone have an idea why this is happening? Any help is appreciated!

I have the same problem going on. While attempting to import into FCP 5.14, I get the red exclamation point for all spanned clips. Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong? Thanks for all the help.

I to am using FCP 5.1.4 and I am having major problems importing into FCP. Random clips are not importing. They play in the viewer perfectly, but then don't convert. I get a red exclamation point. I found a work around by going through P2 log pro. You can convert and export all the mxf in P2 log pro and then import them as files into FCP. You need to export them into the same file as the contents file of the file you are converting. Still not sure what the problem in FCP is though. Any help is appreciated.

I think I have it diagnosed as a hard drive format issue. I have 300GB Seagate drives bought in mid-2006 that won't import anything larger than 4GB -- period. Doesn't matter if it's coming through P2 Import in FCP or a simple copy and paste. If I try to import a file larger than 4GB, I get an empty 32KB file or an error rejection. My workaround was to import the clip in smaller pieces. What FIXES the problem though is I now have a newer 500GB Seagate I formatted to Mac OS X. On the newer drive, I just imported an 11GB clip through P2 Import. I double-checked the old drive this morning, still can't move a file larger than 4GB. New drive? No problem. I don't know if it's the drives, how they're formatted, or a combination. But now I'm only using recent drives and formatting them to OS X.

I'm having the same issue here. I had an overhead shot of someone and couldn't access the camera to record, so I did it through the firewire (pressing record and then stop). I thought I made separate clips for each, when I hit stop, but it jsut paused the recording and ended up being a 12 minute shot. I can't import anything from this clip, shorter clips via in and outs or anythign, it's very annoying and frustrating. I haven't tried P2 Pro yet as I'm at work, but once I get the chance I will definitely try that and possibly bringing it into Vegas on my PC to see if that can fix it as well.

I have FCP 6.0.2, still having issues, and I cannot figure out why this keeps happeneing. Sometimes it happens sometimes it doesn't I shot 2 interviews yesterday, both 30 minutes long at 720p24 and the first imported fine but now this won't import at all. I've tried importing even 1 frame and nothing.

An interesting thing though, I ejected then remounted the FS-100 and the spanned file broke into 5 minute clips that I could then import, but there was 1 file that would still not import...guess it's time to give a call to Focus Enhancements
