I am trying to duplicate a layer of text animation and paste later on in the timeline, when i go to change the text in the copied layer, its changing the text of the original. What am I doing wrong?
the easiest way to do this would be to select the layer you want to copy and hit ctrl + d to duplicate it, then just slide your new layer over to the place you want it on the timeline, and then edit the text of that layer. that way your earlier text will not be on screen at the same time and you cant be acidentally selecting it when you try to select the duplictae layer. as an extra precaution, you could lock the original layer so that it cant be changed or selected. if your still having issues with it somehow selecting and changing the original layer its almost certainly because of some sort of linked expression or attribute of the original layer, and youll have to dive in and suss out what the cause is under the ball of yarn that some compositions can become. but likely you shouldnt have an issue if you just seperate the two to distinctly select one from the other.
