Problem copying P2 to harddrive

Newby with a bonehead Question: In 1394 HOST mode, the user's manual says to select FORMAT (HDD) if drive is not formatted. Does this mean I need to introduce a brand new unformatted HDD? When I hook up my previously formatted HDD, she says CANNOT RECOGNIZE HDD!

Help!
 
Correct. You must format it specifically for use by the camera. Do not use a drive that already has data on it, or the camera will format the drive and your data will be gone.
