Problem capturing 24pa

I've read the sticky, but I'm still having problems.

I'm trying to capture 24fps footage shot with a dvx100a that was filmed in 24pa. I'm capturing with DV NTSC 48kHz Advanced (2:3:3:2) Pulldown Removal checked, and with the sequence preset at 23.98. However, when I play footage on the timeline it shows there being 30 frames per second. Am I doing something wrong?

Not sure... try creating a new sequence making sure the sequence settings are at 23.98 before dropping in. Then drop some clips in and see.

DVX100 24pA footage should always be captured at 29.97 because that's what's on the tape.......
read the exact details of how to do this on the first thread in this forum..... read the sticky again mate! carefully....

How do you know it's 30fps?
You've done it correctly. Click the checkbox for DV NTSC 48kHz Advanced (2:3:3:2) Pulldown Removal. Don't touch the capture fps settings (which shoudl be 29.97)
The sequence shoudl be 23.98 as you stated.
Check the captured clips in the bin. They shoudl be 23.98 if removal happened.
These in the 23.98 sequence shouldn't require any render and shoudl appear normal speed. In and out of the timeline.

Scott:

I think its 30fps because when I open a clip in the viewer and advance frame by frame, it advances up to 30--which I am assuming that means the clip is in 30fps, right? Everything else is set up accordingly, so I am just wondering why the discrepancy?

Stretch your FCP browser/bin window out. Check the fps listed there for the clisp and the sequence. All should be 23.98 if you've done pulldown removal and have set up a 23.98 sequnce.

You can also go to Sequence -> Seetings menu. Note that if you already have clips in hte sequence you won;t be ablke to change the fps. The sequence shoudl be 23.98

Thanks for the info, Scott. I did as you suggested and all my clips and sequences are set to 23.98fps. I rechecked when I advance frame by frame and noticed that I don't have 30fps because sometimes it skips a frame every 5 frames. Sometimes it lands on 30 and sometimes it lands on 29, etc., etc.

Thanks again.
