Problem: Audio on Only Only One Channel

Hi, according to a company that's making copies of my DVD, "The disc [I sent them] plays all of the audio, however, the music plays exclusively out of the left channel. We ask that you please have all audio on 2 channels."

What did I not do correctly. Please advise.

Many thanks! :-)

If your sources were mono, go to their audio timeline, right click and select left or right channel. Use your speakers to figure out where the audio is coming from and adjust accordingly from that same menu.

I checked my audio and the pan is set to center. But the dialogue is only coming out of one computer speaker. Out of the other speaker is background chatter I dubbed in from another track. The record inputs is set to stereo, as well. Argh!

Just because your pan is set to "center" doesn't mean the audio will come from the center. Camcorders have "stereo" tracks, but in reality, you really have two mono tracks; channel one and channel two. You can record completely separate things on each track. Apparently, you originally recorded the tape with the audio source plugged into only one input on your camcorder. When you import the audio into Vegas, the left and right channels come in as a pair, whatever was plugged into the left channel will appear in the left channel, and whatever was plugged into the right will appear in the left channel. If you want only the audio from the left channel to appear centered in both channels, for instance, then simply do what Eugenia has suggested, she gave you the right answer. Right-click on the audio on the timeline, go to "Channels" and select "Left Only" or "Right Only." Of course, make sure the pan on the track is set to center.
