Proav.co.uk / FloLight / Prompter people... FRUSTRATION!

So...

I went ahead and got myself a MicroBeam 256 from FloLight. Hadn't read anything bad about it, so I though what the heck.
Turns out it's actually a nice little powerful LED for the price... BUT.

The first night I tried it out on a test shoot, the sheer weight of the battery (NP-F attached to the NP-F mount on the back of the light) turned out to kinda lose connection with the pins or... something, anyways the light would not stay on, if I held the lamp itself without supporting the battery.
Apart from that, it had scratch marks, marks from having been mounted with the accompanying hotshoe mount, the dimmer was unresponsive / with latency and the color filters were scratched / full of dust. ( I documented this as soon as I opened the package... which by the way had been opened and resealed with hardwarestore brown tape, ie. not factory seal)

Now when I made the payment, I expected a pristine product, not something used or demoed.

I contacted Proav along with Prompter People in the UK. After some back and forth I agreed to return it at my own expense for a replacement.

So, it went away and I waited 2 weeks and finally got the package just now. Now, am I wrong to say that anyone having experienced the above would be on their toes at this point? Atleast I was....

Here's what I found:

- Looks like they resent the same filters... only now they had them stuffed in one of those small transparent plastic bags you get at the supermarket for food.
- There were still scratch marks and small bumps, including the mount mark around the mount hole.
- There's now a mark on the dimmer knob as well, as if it hit something and some of the plastic was chipped off or dented.
- They put it all back in the same box as before, sealed it with more of the same brown tape over the old tape and now the box has a dented corner as well even thought it was tightly wrapped in bubble wrap.

Alas I don't have a battery here, so I can't test it yet, but frankly... to me it looks like they resent the same product after having beaten it up a bit more.
No need to say how incredibly disappointed I am with this... I don't know who to blame, but I only wish to say, that I can't endorse either proav.co.uk or Prompter People / FloLight.

In short... check one of the other shops out before going for the MicroBeam 256.

Just want to follow up on my own thread here... Dunno if either Flo or ProAv saw it, but I just received a mail from them. They have responded in a very professional way and have offered to replace the item yet again at their delivery expense and double check that the new item is in fact in 100% condition.
That more than softens my frustration and I'm happy that we came to this arrangement.
I might also mention that apart from this one incident which now is resolved, I've had no bad experiences with ProAv, or the other FloLight fixture I have.

Just wanted to say that in all fairness. I think manufacturers and distributers deserve to receive thanks when it's due.
