Pro Video Monitor ?

Not owning a pro crt monitor I'm curious to know if something like this might help calibrate our apple LCD cinema displays for better video editing color accuracy ? Our next project has a little more color to it then we're use to. We're outputting the final to digibeta. Shot on a HVX200a + FS100 at DVCPRO HD 24fps.

If not can you shoot me a link to a pro monitor & all hook ups necessary that might help us ? Our budget is $300, possibly a little more if really needed.

No. The Spyder doesn't calibrate to the video standards. It's great for photography and design (a must for those fields), but not for video. It'll make the colors more accurate (or at least try), but for video you still won't be able to trust them for final output since video uses different technology and standards. If your output is for TV then for best results you need a calibrated video monitor.

A more useful product would be one of the boxes from Matrox which try to approximate the video gamut through a standard monitor.

I use an MXO from Matrox and a 23" Apple Cinema display and though not like a $15k ++ studio monitor, it is very good and I have yet to find anything better in this budget range.

"MXO from Matrox"

This looks promising... I have two 20" displays, would one of these work or would I need to buy a 23" ? How accurate are the colors ?

Anyone else here use a Matrox MXO ?

I bought an Apple 23 CInema since the tests and reviews I read were all based on using it with the Matrox. As for colour accuracy...are very good based on a side by side with a Panasonic BT-LH1760P (rented) properly set up On the web site they suggest you can use other monitors. So I honestly can't answer that and suggest you ask Matrox, they are excellent in customer service.
I use my Apple Cinema display only for grading. I edit with two Samsung 24" monitors and switch over to the Apple for grading. No great technical reason other than I got it later and don't like looking at two differnt monitors when cutting on the desktop.
