I'm thinking about upgrading to FCS 3, namely for the additional pro res support. Most projects I work on end up being distributed across a number of editors so pro-res proxy seems like an ideal format for a workflow like ours.
My main concern is that one editor still has a G5 system. I know apple says that FCS 3 is only supported on intel macs, but is it possible to install the codecs necessary to edit the new pro res codecs onto a G5 system?
Also, how much space does pro res proxy actually save? We've been using low bit rate photo jpeg as our offline format in the past. Does anyone how it compares?
