Pro Res and PremierePro CS4

Hey I'm editing some Pro Res 4222 (HQ) footage, and when I bring it in to Premiere CS4 the play-back is good for about a half-second then the video gets jittery. I'm editing on a MacBook Pro 17" (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo w/ 4GB of RAM)

This happens both when I use a custom setting I created (details below) and when I import an FCP XML. In this clip everything "seems" to be working so easily, but for me it's been a nightmare. http://www.thedvshow.com/using-final-cut-pro-with-production-premium/

All my footage edits smoothly in FCP w/ no issue, but for some reason in Premiere I can't even get started. The following are the sequence settings I'v been trying to use. These are also the sequence settings that my sequences are automatically on when I import a FCP XML:

  • Editing Mode: Desktop
  • Timebase: 23.976 frames/second
  • Video; Frame Size: 1920x1080
  • Video; Fields: No Fields
  • Vidoe; Display format: 24fps Timecode
  • Video Previews; Preview File Format: Quicktime (Desktop)
  • Video Previews; Codec: Apple ProRes 422 (HQ)

I need help with this ASAP.
Thanks

The Adobe Engineers told me that Prores performance in Premiere Pro is not optimized and will be slow or chunky at best. Find another format to edit in, or create proxys. I've used sorenson 3 at 640x360 and those work well on dual core PCs.

Mpeg-2 works pretty well but I've had issues bringing it into After Effects in the past.

Dang! That sucks, because I already did my picture edit in FCP, and I wanted to do all of my grading and FX work between Premiere and AE.
