Hi there, I haven't got the latest version of FCP, but I understand it comes with a "Pro Res 422" feature. Reportedly, this creates an uncompressed 4:2:2 export of your original footage. Is this correct?
If so, what happens if you shoot on say HDV 4:2:0 or DV 4:2:0; if you go Export to Pro Res 422, would it export to true 4:2:2 (despite the original footage being 4:2:0)? If you shoot in 4:2:0, is it worth doing Pro Res 422 anyway instead of exporting it conventionally? Will it still yield a better picture?
Also, to obtain true Pro Res 422 quality, you would have to digitise the footage from the camera with an HDMI cable, is that right? Could you get away using Pro Res 422 if you just digitised through a standard 4 or 6 pin firewire?
