I understand there are ways of sharing your video online at the moment but I'm thinking of something more professional for communities such as this, so that you don't have to compress your data massively. Afterall with stuff like Red One wouldn't it be great to be able to affrodably have your footage online, or affordably watch other peoples Red footage?
One of the businesses that I own part of does ISP work and hosts websites out of London and California. I also do alot of work with online applications so it wouldn't be much of a problem building a bespoke front end for something like this.
Basically speaking this is what I envisage.
It'd be a more or less pay as you go service but not at outrages prices. The costs we pay for every MB downloaded from one of our servers is pretty minimal (I'm talking fractions of a pence or cence per MB, I'll get a price for this soon). What I was thinking was basically allow people to have a download/upload account whereby they can pay pretty much cost prices.
I was then thinking of making a frontend that would allow Admin users to have a username and password and upload their Video.
The Admin can then specify how others can access their video:
Public (Unlocked) - Openly available to anyone on the web
Public (Locked) - Only available to other users of this video sharing tool if they pay for the download using their own credit
Locked - The Admin gives permission to other users, and decides when a request is submitted whether the cost will come out of their account or the other users.
I'd build in reports and so on of people downloading the stuff and how much of your budget has been spent and so on, as well as different tools to allow the users to email people to notify them of their new updates, maybe include RSS feeds for users so others can keep track of when new stuff has gone online and a whole load of features that would allow one another to interact.
My idea is to make it as accessable and inexpensive yet allow it to be a professional service for communities such as DVXuser to utilise. I will come back with some expected prices soon depending on the feedback here.

What do you think to this? Is it something you would be keen to use if the price is right?
If I made this would there be many here in this community that would use it instantly?
Is there stuff out there like this that you already use and if so are there any problems with it that you would like to see rectified in this scheme?
Do you have any ideas that you would like to see encorporated into an idea like this?
