Pro audio with a Mbox/ Protools.... Possible?

I don't know exactly. I mean I think of PT as pretty stable till I start really thinking about it and truthfully I have gone months with out any problems at all. But then someting will change and all hell will break loose. Aurora video cards were periodically an issue. The other thing that may be a factor is your probably using the system a lot more gently than the average post editor. I just finishd a feature doc that had a week or so of very intense editing folowed by two very long days of mixing/ editing.
90+HD video. So I'm stoping and starting constantly, switching tools and displays while playing , constantly. There is also Soundminer open for finding and importing sounds, a couple of lib drives and the network. Plus it has a contol surface going. And when your cranking away it's easy to hit too many commands at a time etc.
The bigest problems I have had with PT are sudden quits, because you never know when it's going to happen. They have all come in clups and usually get solved by some up date or trashing all the prefs, and it hassn't happened very often. But there was a streak there where PT would sudden quit about once an hour. THat was VERY frustrating. That one may have been connected to some bad memory? wich wouldn't be totally on PT. PT feels a little like my old VW buss (66), it's trustworthy because I know that with a little fixing here and there I can always get to where I need to go, but I also understand that at any given time I might need to spend some "maintenence" time.

I don't have a lot of plugins by music standards but I do have a few. ANd with V7 out of date plugins can be a problem.

THe whole system gets backed up every so often, but all the projects and video get backed up at least once a day to a seperate drive, and archived to DVD's in the end.
Cheers
