Print to Video Problems

I have a Sony HDR-FX1 and I'm able to do everything fine with it until I try to PRINT TO VIDE in FCP. FCP recognizes the deck and everything and triggers the recording, but after it's all finished, there was nothing recorded.

If anybody could help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Could be a number of problems here. Are you in the HDV Easy Setup preset? Is the camera set to HDV->DV OFF? Is the video edited in a HDV 1080/60i timeline?

What should happen is that FCP will start the Print To Video, then it will do an HDV Conforming process, which can take a while, then it'll start recording.

I've had the same problem. It's a finnicky process. Off the top of my head, fixing it had something to do with the order in which I turned on the camera and started FCP. If you're dropping bars at the front of it, check in your viewfinder or the LCD a few seconds after your start the print to video -- if you don't see the bars in your viewfinder or LCD, the print to tape failed.
