Print to tape...HD to SD MiniDV tape??

I haven't had a need to print to tape in such a long time, I cannot get my system to do right. After changing the settings more than several times I can now see my timeline on my external when my VTR is in record pause mode. When I start playback, I hear the audio but the video is just a still frame (on external) which is a sign one of the playback settings might be off. Like I said I went through a number of settings and none worked. The only one that worked was Apple Firewire NTSC for playback and print to tape.

Also my timeline is HD and I need to print to MiniDV (SD). Is that causing the issues? The company I am sending this video too wants it on DVD and also MiniDV for some reason.

Well I switched it to Apple firewire NTSC and all I get is audio. Video is not showing up. Well it is but its not in motion. Its a frozen frame but the audio is in real time if that makes sense. I ran into a similar problem when I hooked up my Matrox MXO2 Mini back in the summer and I fixed that by changing the codec. I have printed stuff to tape in the past and I thought I had it all hooked up correctly but something isn't.

Is all frames selected in playback? I am guessing as it has been 5 years at least for me as well.

I am not a big FCP user...but it makes sense to me to "downconvert" your timeline to SD first, then play out to tape. If your deck or camera that you are recording back to is SD only.....it just wont recognize the HDV material.
