Print to Tape for 24f

Hi all, simple question:

I shot 24f SD 16x9 Canon footage, with 2-3 pulldown, and now want to print some of that footage back to tape.

Should I simply select the "NTSC DV Widescreen 24p (2-3 pulldown)" template within the Print to Tape tool? This would match my original footage and Vegas project settings.

Dv.

Though, are you suggesting that I can take this SD footage and make an HDV tape from it? Would that be better?

You could, but it's probably best not to. It won't be the same apparent resolution as actual HDV.

You can print back to tape as NTSC DV, 24p DV inserting 2:3 pulldown, or 24p DV inserting 2:3:3:2 pulldown.

The first two are pretty much the same; the only difference is that there will be pulldown flags in the footage, and NLEs which can read these flags and remove 2:3 pulldown automatically will be able to do it, whereas they won't with straight NTSC video. Either is fine if you want to watch the video or deliver it for watching.

Choose 2:3:3:2 if you're handing it off to someone else for editing.

You should be able to do any of these if the Canon camera will record NTSC DV.

Even if I shot in 24F, 2:3 pulldown mode?

And, unfortunately I already sent the tape, which I output inserting 2:3 pulldown option. It's for someone else to edit. Is this going to be problematic?

Yes, even if that's how you shot it. It doesn't matter how you shot once you get to the delivery stage.

It could be problematic depending on the software they're using. If their software can only remove 2:3:3:2 pulldown automatically (i.e., Final Cut), then they'll have to remove the pulldown manually.

That seems kinda silly doesn't it.

I don't know what they'll be using to edit, but if they have to do it manually, is that a big deal?

Worst case, I guess I can just output again using the 2:3:3:2 setting and send that tape.
