Print to Tape FCE4

I have a Canon XH-A1 and I'm trying to Print to Tape a HDV 24F project. I keep getting a prompt that the camera is not being recognized. I have a firewire connection. I've tried starting up the program with the camera on, with it off. Still does not recognize.

Can anybody help me with this? I have put in hours troubleshooting on what seems like it should be a fairly simple thing.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Are you using any other FW400/800 devices at the same time? This can sometimes craw too much juice from the camera. Or you can try turning off the computer, plugging in and turning on the cam, then start your computer. I think I had a similiar problem a while back that was solved by doing that.
 
The only other firewire device is the external hard drive with the captured footage on it. I have to keep that connected to have access to the footage for the project I am trying to print to tape. Hmm. I've tried turning on the camera and then opening Final Cut. But I don't think I've tried turning on the whole computer after I have the camera on and connected. I have printed to tape before with my current setup, so I know it must be possible. I'll try your suggestions tonite and let you know. Thanks!
