Pride & Prejudice

I just saw this film on DVD last night... and wow! I absolutely loved it! The cinematography ws gorgeous. I remember one shot in particular during the big ball, where it was a continuous (or seemed to be) steadicam shot for about 5 minutes, and it went from character to character, and to different conversations to advance the story. It was one of the most amazing shots I've ever seen. Then we come to the story. I loved the story. So heartwarming, and the dialogue was really well written! I also thought the acting was impecable. I was brought to tears twice during the film, and I must say I will be watching this one again! It was just great!

Ahhh my thread about it seems to be gone...

Oh well, glad you also loved it. Gorgeous movie. Totally robbed of Oscar nomination for cinematography. That's not to say all the other aspects of it weren't (at the very least) good.

Sure it's chick flick, but get this...

I went to see it with only because of the girl - we met in a club a couple of days earlier and she wanted to see this movie. I was glued to the screen after the opening steadicam sequence and I FORGOT about her during the ballroom scene a few minutes later.
Needless to say I haven't seen that girl since... But I'm seeing P&P again for sure, dvd is already out I think.

hey guys, can you give me a few of your recent favorites so I can gauge if we have the same taste. I chalked this one up to chick flick land but if we're on the same page, I'm willing to check it out.

At the risk of publicly emasculating myself, there are a lot of so called "chick flicks" that are really friggin' good. Aint gonna spout off a list (wanna keep at least one in the raisin bag). Any love story runs the risk of being labeled a chick flick. But if it's a good story, whatever. Eternal Sunshine? I do wanna see P and P. And I guarantee you: Chicks dig dudes that like "their" movies. (You sly boots, Briceman! hehe). So yeah, I'll check her out.

Word. They do. And, I've must have found a soft spot in my heart for these kind of movies. I don't know, I dig em' now!

Speaking of public emasculation, I was actually forced to sit down and watch the 6 hour
A & E version of Pride and Prejudice several years ago.

And I liked it. A lot. Before that I would have bet quite a bit of money to the contrary. Go figure.

I haven't seen the newest version, but I HEARD (from the same gaggle of female relatives that coerced me to pull the P & P overnighter) that it ain't got nothin' on A & E :)

I will still check it out though. Nice to see all its rave reviews.
