Pricing Help

So we were hoping we could lean a bit on the guys who have been doing production for awhile for some advice here. We just started our production company and we came across this gig that is ready to move forward but we have to come up with a price (obviously). Due to its uniqueness and our relative level of inexperience in doing this commercially, we were hoping some people could give us some feedback on how much something like this would run. We've been doing our research calling other businesses but for something like this, it gets complicated and they would rather "sit down to discuss". Here's the gig:

This guy wants us to produce a DVD for him which two major themes, each a track and about 6 chapters each (6 themes per track). Overall, the concept is a "movie that sells", much like an infomercial but entertaining and not something that you take as your cue to go to bed at 3am. The first theme is a very business-y side of how to run a business, etc. The second is more of "the fun side" of the business I guess you could say. So, in essence, it's a film with the plot being an infomercial.

Everyone always wants to "sit down and discuss". That's just shorthand for "I have no idea". Actually, it's pretty simple.

First, you need a script to estimate a shooting schedule. Then, you need to estimate your editing time. Then, you need to estimate your DVD authoring time. Finally, add up all your crew, equipment rental and expenses and you'll have your estimate.

You'll have to invest some giveaway time to come up with all these estimates, but if the client is willing to pay industry rates you'll be okay.
