Price of Matte boxes...

Re: Price of Matte boxes...

no i have only the chrosziel now, in fact i think in a way it fits better without the anamorphic.

i have a problem where the matte box tends to creep forward on the top edge of the lens shade on the anamorphic.

the support person at 16x9 has been great and he says it is just a matter of loosening the allen screws off of the light weight mounting bars and getting the alignment just right.

Hey matthewd5,
The Century is the right choice (really the only) JBK & others make a gear for the focus & zoom rings, but the Century has a hard stop at infinity & 3 feet. I have had mine machined to have others, but you have to make friends with the machinist next door or pony-up for an outsider.

As far as the 3rd filter goes, I bought some ARRI filter frames from eBay & mounted one in the Rayshade of my Chrosziel. You have to machine the resin a bit, but if you don't mind, you can add a non rotating 4x5.65 filter. I use mine for 85's or Corals when outside. Keep the diffusion close & the far ones clean !!
