PreViz Software for Scene Blocking

I disagree on that. There's a section on Harry Potter that shows they used Pre Viz to accomplish everything. I don't think people will get lost it or do. I believe Rich Lee does similar work, but not sure if it's for an entire movie.

This is Windows only!?? WTF?

How can all these so called "creative" software company's not keep the mac people in mind?

They're probably mindful of the fact that the installed user base for the PC, including for 'creative' people, is larger than the mac's.

Exactly. I'm sure if there's more of an interest in the program in the Mac department they could port it.

Don't misunderstand me, Kholi. I'm not putting the software down. Pre-vis is a great thing for a production to have. Nothing wrong with it, but I can see a danger in being a slave to it. As long as it helps, GREAT! If it keeps you form making a movie because you're trying to get everything perfect in it before shooting, how does that help?

Well, no competent operator is likely to employ it that way.

Amateurs, beware.

Getting everything 'perfect before shooting,' impresses me as the whole point of a tool like this. With the understanding, of course that (except for Milla Jovovich) nothing is ever really 'perfect.'

I was taking a good-natured shot at Kholi with that one...mostly about getting the story perfect. I want to see him get in gear and do a "film."

Antic3d is a tool just like a dolly, etc. It will allow you to push the boundaries of your script and take it from a static storyboard to a animated living thing....but it does not hinder you from deviating from what you had created in Antics to try things on set. It is just a guide.

Also these tools Antics and FF make it a hell of alot easier to sell your concept to investors and to professional crew and talent. It makes your story look alot better than some stickmen on a storyboard;)

And there's a lot to be said for that.
