Previewing Widescreen

I was always wondering if there's a way you can edit and preview a widescreen as in the full output aspect ratio instead of having the regular preview window but the footage is squeezed. Can you do that?

Try right clicking on the preview monitor and select "simulate device aspect ratio" ... see if that fixes your problem.

AH yesss it does work! Thanks Envision...but...i get this weird pixelization now...it looks like the edges on red objects before you apply a chroma blur..but on all objects in a certain color range..its weird...i tried putting chroma blur, but it didnt do anything. Whats wrong here?

You're seeing scaling artifacts from the system stretching 720 pixels up to 864. It's the difference between square pixels and non-square pixels. There's nothing wrong with your footage, and no filter will "fix" it; it's just like if you tried to display a 640x480 graphic on an 800x600 LCD screen -- it's getting stretched to fit.

What Barry said, but it could also be a simple thing of the size of your preview window ... not really knowing what you're looking at. Sometimes when I question how things look, I'll temporarily blow my window up to Best/Full just to make sure something looks good.

My reason not to is about 99% of the time ... I've yet to set my system up optimally (separate HD for OS, etc.), so mine runs like a DOG if I've got much FX going on and I'm trying to view it in Best/Full. Then again, Best/Auto may not be too bad, but preview/auto seems to work well for the past 1-2 years I've been editing with it.
