Previewing on Client Monitor

Was wondering was effects in Vegas can preview out to a Client Monitor in real time. Transitions? Color Correction?

Reading their specs, they say it possible via firewire, but I only know of a handfull of production crts that have a firewire option. Will the camera or deck with svideo out while connected via firewire suffice. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Dave...and it will give real time (no rendering) previews of most VFX and color correction or do you have to render?

Vegas does not preview in real-time. It tries, but the more you add, the choppier it gets. You have to prerender.

You'd have to do this whether or not you're previewing out.

But Vegas is not unusual in this.

When the effects start stacking up you can also lower your preview resolution to maintain a closer-to-real-time preview at the expense of some blockiness.

I've found that preview quality depends directly on gross CPU horsepower, as I have a _much_faster machine at work and can realtime with several effects applied.

Generally for external use, you should have preview set to Preview/Full. This is a nice compromise in quality and framerate.
Don't forget RAM renders are VERY useful.
CTRL+B for a render to RAM.

Is it CTRL+B or Shift+B ?
