Preview window cutting between full and half quality?

So I have Sony Vegas 10 and edit the raw AVCHD off of my HMC150, I set the preview quality to Best (Full) and it will play some clips or most of the clip like that before jumping to Preview (Half). This is a problem for me as I want to be able to preview all the clips in the highest quality possible. I was wondering if there is a way to change this so I could view my whole timeline playing through in the highest quality. My editing rig shouldn't be a problem as I have the newest quad core i7 2600k, 8GB of DDR3 1600MHz RAM and an ATI 5770 as my GPU. Can someone please help me? I'm working on a project for a client and want to be able to stream this in the highest quality without pre-rendering it all the time. Thanks and take care!

Edit: I should add that I have Sony Vegas set as a high priority task under task manager as well.

I suspect the problem is simply that AVCHD is a compressed format, so any computer will struggle to always decompress it at full speed and full quality, especially if there are filters and effects and multiple layers etc to also deal with.

Possibly you can set the compression rate on your camera for future footage? That would result in larger files, but they'd play back faster.

This is the result of a new feature that was added in Pro 9.
Right-click the Video Preview window and select Adjust Size and Quality for Optimal Playback if you want to emphasize frame rate during preview.
When the command is not selected, video quality is emphasized, and the frame rate will be reduced if necessary.
Be advised that your timeline may stutter at transition points (after all, this is AVCHD you're using) if this is disabled so, if it does, find a setting that plays well and still looks good.
