preview render

i have a 45 sec video clip that i placed in a new comp in ae cs4. i set my comp to 45 sec, but can only preview render 15 sec of the clip. how do i set it to preview render the whole clip?

AE will use as much of your available ram to preview so add more ram to your machine or lower your preview to half or third res

AE can only preview so much with your ram.

i`ve got 4 gigs of ram. why does ae only see 2 gigs?

Depends on a lot of things, but primarily which OS you are using. Start by reading this post from Adobe.

Then, go into the Memory and Multiprocessing tab in Preferences and ensure you've got those settings the way you want them.

If you can't up the RAM usage, then bring down the resolution of your frames to Half or less. (Scaling down the video window to match the resolution settings will make it appear smoother.) If you need to see full-rez, render it out.

i tried this and when i opened ae i got that fatal blue screen. so i put it back the way it was. over all that do not work for me.
